"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."
-William Arthur Ward
The above quote says it all. I am an enthusiastic, passionate, energetic teacher who strives to inspire children to ask questions, be curious, gain independence, blossom in self-confidence, and SIMPLY want to learn-no matter what. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and every year students teach me, inspire me, and open my mind to endless possibilities.
This is my 23rd year teaching in Lakeshore Public Schools. I started as a kindergarten teacher, moved to second grade for three years, and have been teaching first grade for the last 19 years of my career.
I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education. After working a few years, I continued my education at Western Michigan University and received a Master's degree in special education.
Not only a teacher, I have two children who attend Lakeshore Public Schools. Marshall is a SENIOR and Matt is a tenth grader. My husband is the Chief Probation Officer for Misdemeanor Charges at the St. Joseph Courthouse. You can find us cheering on Marshall at soccer games and cheering on the marching band. Marshall plays the trumpet and Matt plays the trombone.
Although I was not born and raised in Southwest Michigan, this is our home. We love the area and Lakeshore Public Schools.
